There’s an electronics element that manipulates and processes the sound of the flute and makes it more airy and more ghostly. It’s a very chilling piece.

Enter into a world of ancient spirits and memories.

Join Digital Salons artists and Artistic Director David Pay and step into the world of Hōrai – a mythical Japanese place where the hearts of our ancestors never grow old. Performed by Mark Takeshi McGregor and composed by Keiko Devaux, this piece had its world premiere last November at Music on Main’s 10th Modulus Festival. Let the mysterious sounds and spellbinding smoke visuals take you to another place where ancient spirits and their memories live on through music.

Get to know more about the composer process creating Hōrai, and hear about Mark and Keiko’s Japanese-Canadian connection in this intimate digital salon setting. Plus, be the first to know about what’s to come for Music on Main’s International Presenters Program.

This live one-time only event is your chance to listen to great music together and be a part of engaging music-making conversations. We welcome audience questions and participation at this event.
