This winter season, fill your soul with luminous music.
With the longest days of winter fast approaching, the people of Vancouver must search elsewhere for a source of light. For two evenings, Music on Main will illuminate Heritage Hall with musical performances.
Music on Main’s annual event, Music for the Winter Solstice, promises to be a lovely evening where concertgoers can listen, relax, and rekindle their energy for the holiday season.
This year’s concert brings four incredible artists to the stage. Five-time Grammy Award winner Caroline Shaw will share her luminous vocals and violin playing. She’s joined by Danni Lee Parpan, an artist celebrated for her boundary-pushing, genre-defying work and powerful voice, making her Music for the Winter Solstice debut. Beloved contemporary pianist Rachel Kiyo Iwaasa, a familiar presence who has performed in nearly every edition of this seasonal tradition, brings her expressive artistry back to the event. Also returning is distinguished percussionist Julia Chien, a dynamic and celebrated artist in our community.
Together, these four outstanding performers will warm hearts and spark joy as we gather for the Winter Solstice during the 20th season.
This concert is generously sponsored by Eileen Mate.
Grand piano provided by Showcase Pianos.
This performance is part of Music on Main’s 20th Season.
Music that resonates.
Accessibility
Heritage Hall (located at 3102 Main Street) has two entrances, one at street level and one up three steps of standard height, approximately 20 feet of flat surface, and 26 lower-than-standard-height steps. There are handrails beside all the staircases.
For the accessible entrance, please inform the staff member who will be stepping outside regularly and they will open the gated doors to the right of the main entrance. These doors are required by the venue to be kept closed, and so staff will need a couple of moments to accommodate. Staff will also need to open this door when patrons are leaving.
The main room is fully-accessible, with chairs set up throughout. Chairs are not fixed, and therefore can sometimes be moved to create a barrier. Staff are on hand to assist with removal if necessary. The main floor has a single-stall, gender neutral washroom, but please note that there is no auto door opener. Additional washrooms are located down a spiral staircase of approximately 20 steps.
Please contact Music on Main at [email protected] or by phone at (604) 879-9888 if you have any questions.
