Little Volcano – half concert, half storytelling – is insanely wonderful. That is, it’s exquisitely beautiful – the kind of beautiful that makes you want to cry.

Jo Ledingham, Theatre Reviews

Pianist and songwriter Veda Hille combines music and storytelling in this intensely personal performance. Drawing from works by J.S. Bach, as well as Veda’s own compositions, Little Volcano offers a glimpse into the life of one of Vancouver’s most beloved musical artists.

Little Volcano’s autobiographical take on love, death, and survival is heartbreaking, inspiring, and uplifting all at once. Ultimately, this “heightened concert” explores the universality of life’s experiences – loss, relationships, and adventures – through the one constant in Veda’s life: the piano.

Created in residencies with Cryptic UK and the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, in collaboration with Siminovitch Prize winners Maiko Yamamoto and James Long of Theatre Replacement.

Co-presented with PuSh International Performing Arts Festival.

Supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Hamber Foundation.

These concerts have been generously sponsored by McGrane-Pearson Endowment Fund, held at Vancouver Foundation, and an anonymous donor.
