…what choice do we have but to keep trying, and to stay in touch with those older, deeper rhythms that remind us of where we are and how we fit into the whole community of life on the earth.

John Luther Adams

Birds have inspired composers for centuries, and in their song, John Luther Adams found connection. For his “Ten Thousand Birds” there is no master score and time is not measured. Each page, its own world with its own physical space and time, an experience for the ears as well as the soul.

Directed by homegrown superstar pianist Vicky Chow, and interpreted by the Music on Main All-Star band, this intimate performance will transform the Roundhouse Performance Centre into an enchanting forest walk. This performance is meant for you to move through the space. Choose your own experience. It is up to you, the listener, to make this piece complete.

Don’t miss this unique performance. John Luther Adams has been called “one of the most original musical thinkers of the new century” (The New Yorker) and Vicky Chow has been called “one of our era’s most brilliant pianists.” (Pitchfork)

This concert is a Canadian premiere.
