michael gordon’s sonatra

“Gordon’s writing—and Chow’s execution—delivers a delirium state of rare potency.”
Pitchfork

Join us for this one-of-a kind free event as Vancouver-raised and New York-based superstar pianist and Music on Main’s first Artist in Residence, Vicky Chow, shares the Canadian premiere of Michael Gordon’s powerhouse piece Sonatra. Vicky vows to play this piece as “fast as physically possible” and calls this sideways tribute to Frank Sinatra “the most challenging piece of music” she’s ever worked on.

A Q&A will follow – this is your chance to go behind the scenes. Learn about Vicky’s artistic process, what makes her tick, and her thoughts about the music she plays.

This will also be Music on Main’s very first Facebook Live event! This salon will be streamed live on the Music on Main Facebook page from 6:30-7:30PM PST. You will be able to watch Sonatra and interact directly with Vicky during the Q&A by typing your questions into us. How exciting is that?

You won’t want to miss this!
