Event Marketing Specialist
Job Description
About the Position
Reporting to the Artistic Planning & Operations Manager (APOM) and collaborating with the Marketing
Manager (MM) and the Artistic Director (AD), the Event Marketing Specialist (EMS) will be responsible
for assisting with the promotion and execution of Music on Main’s summer programming, including the
Summer Pop-Up Concert Series. This is a short-term position from June 19 through the end of August.
The EMS supports key goals and priorities, and develops systems for their implementation.
Along with other staff, the EMS supports healthy relations with audiences, artists, donors, sponsors,
funders, staff, Board, volunteers, and other key stakeholders. The EMS’ duties include, but are not limited
to, the following:
Marketing & Communications
• Collaborating with the MM on creating, implementing, and managing the marketing and
communications plan for the summer events, and the preparation of the fall season;
• Assisting with the management of media relations for the Summer Pop-Up Concert Series,
including liaising with PR contractors, management cross promotions, and submitting event
listings;
• Assisting with the tracking and reporting of marketing campaign results to the Music on Main
team;
• Assisting with creating and implementing all social media, media relations, and promotions; and
• Collaborating with the MM to implement updates on the Music on Main website.
Event Assistance
• Assisting with the co-ordination, setup and take down of summer events;
• Assisting with ensuring that public and private funders, sponsors, and donors are recognized as
required at the event venues; and
• Supporting audience, artist, donor, and funder relations at events.
Hours
For the majority of this contract, it will be a part-time position requiring 30 hours per work week. Due to
the nature of our operations, the work of the organization demands flexibility, and may require you to
work flexible hours, evenings, and weekends to meet objectives.
Compensation
Your hourly salary will be $24.08, plus accrued vacation pay. Music on Main is proud to be a certified
Living Wage Employer. Payments will be made semi-monthly.

contagious. Your writing grabs attention. Your communication and interpersonal skills allow you to make
lasting connections with colleauges, audience members and artists. Your familiarity with software like
Photoshop and InDesign lets you edit content in a breeze. Your curiosity propels inventive campaigns and
insightful research.

About Music on Main
At a Music on Main concert, there’s always great musicians and interesting, engaging music. And there’s
always the chance to make new friends, meet the artists, and escape from your to-do list for an hour or
two.
Music on Main has produced more than 700 events featuring in excess of 1,800 musicians and 130 world
premieres at Heritage Hall on Main Street, the now-closed Cellar Restaurant and Jazz Club in Kitsilano,
and venues throughout Metro Vancouver. The music has touched the souls of thousands of listeners, and
we’ve helped artists from around the world connect with each other, and with Vancouver audiences.
In 2010 we launched the annual Modulus Festival, which “provides western Canada with one of the finest
windows onto the post-classical scene” (Gramophone Magazine). November 2-8, 2017, we co-hosted
the ISCM World New Music Days 2017.
Our events take place in Vancouver’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. The Main Street Series happens at
Heritage Hall, The Fox Cabaret, and other intimate spaces located in the heart of the Mount Pleasant
neighbourhood, in East Vancouver. Other events take place in unexpected and fun venues throughout
Metro Vancouver.
