Music on Main welcomes Melody Jacobson, General Manager

Music on Main is thrilled to welcome Melody Jacobson as our new General Manager. Recently relocated to Vancouver from Calgary, Melody is a photographer, writer, arts administrator, and programmer whose career in visual, media arts and multidisciplinary art centres spans over 20 years. She is committed to supporting the community as a whole through her organisational work, as well as board service with many different organizations on provincial and national levels.

In 2009, she received the AMAAS Spirit of Helen Award for her dedication to advocating and enriching Alberta’s Arts & Culture. While working at The New Gallery, she obtained a Communications degree at the University of Calgary, with a particular focus on photography, cinema and local artist-run culture. Melody worked for many years as the Operations Coordinator at the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (CSIF), involved in many other organizations including the Independent Media Arts Alliance des arts médiatiques indépendents, Alberta Media Arts Alliance Society, Fairytales Presentation Society, Mountain Standard Time Performative Art Society and the Calgary Cinematheque Society, to name a few.  Melody has been an invited jury member for national, provincial and municipal arts funding and media arts programming competitions.

In her own art practice, Melody is part of the UCFK photo collective, was part of GROUP: A Performance Art Collective, and has created two short films. She is a proud great-aunt to two toddlers, and has been busy happily exploring Vancouver’s dog parks with her two American bulldogs. She says, “”I am happy to be joining David Pay and the Music on Main team, and am excited to take part in developing the organization further as we move into our new space.  I’m looking forward to meeting more of Music on Main’s community, so please say hello at our upcoming concerts and events.” Welcome, Melody!
