Tonight’s concert will transform what you think the human voice can do. It’s a visceral, sensual, surprising programme featuring five fearless vocalists known around the world:

  • Lisa Bielawa, composer and Philip Glass Ensemble vocalist
  • Susan Narucki, Grammy-award winning soprano
  • DB Boyko & Christine Duncan, leading vocal improvisors
  • Tanya Tagaq, legendary Inuit throat singer

 

8:00 PM | Vocalist Lisa Bielawa performs her own work A Collective Cleansing for solo voice and digital audio; soprano Susan Narucki performs Gyorgy Kurtág’s Attila József Fragments for solo voice; vocalists DB Boyko & Christine Duncan perform Christopher Butterfield’s Stall for two voices and tape.

9:15 PM | Throat singer Tanya Taqaq performs with violinist Jesse Zubot and drummer Jean Martin.
