Composer In Residence Jocelyn Morlock nominated for album, composition of the year

Congratulations to Music on Main’s Composer In Residence Jocelyn Morlock!  She has been nominated in two categories at the 2014 Western Canadian Music Awards: Classical Composition of the Year for her Oiseaux bleus et sauvages, and Classical Recording of the Year for her new disc Cobalt, released on Centrediscs.

Oiseaux bleus et sauvages was written for and recorded by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra with conductor Bramwell Tovey and can be heard on Cobalt, Jocelyn’s first full-length CD release.  The recording is available on iTunes, through retailers like Sikora’s Classical Records, and through Amazon.ca.  Centrediscs recordings are distributed internationally through Naxos.

Cobalt was released on March 4, 2014 at the Fox Cabaret during Music on Main’s presentation of pianist Corey Hamm.  You can hear excerpts of Oiseaux bleus et sauvages along with an interview of Jocelyn on CBC Radio One’s North by Northwest.
