The Grammy Award-winning Kronos Quartet is legendary for its fearless exploration of cutting-edge music. Vocalist Tanya Tagaq is hailed as the "Jimi Hendrix of Inuit throat singing" for her primal, erotic, experimental style. Together, they paint a mesmerizing Arctic soundcape.
The centrepiece of their program is the Vancouver debut of Tundra Songs, a new work for Kronos and Tagaq, by Canadian composer Derek Charke. Filled with Inuit myth, atmospheric sounds, grooves and noises from nature, Tundra Songs is "extraordinary ... passionate and superb." (LA Times)
